The ukulele is a very fun instrument to play. As it takes up little space, you can go with us everywhere to play music of all styles and times. It is also one of the instruments that show the personality and originality of its owner.
The APC CMX is a different ukulele. As it is a concert model, it has a larger body than the soprano model which allows it to have a more serious and present sound. The neck is longer, providing the musician with a larger scale, with more frets, more spaced for more demanding performances.
What stands out immediately is the absence of a mouth on the front, which is placed on the upper side of the APC CMX. This unique placement does not take away sound capacity, allowing a very original look in a unique configuration.
The body, bottom and sides are in solid koa, a species of acacia native to Hawaii, which gives it an identity and sound very close to the native instruments of the American island.
The neck of the APC CMX is in mahogany and the scale is in black African wood. The 18 frets are arranged in such a way as to make room for virtuosity, increasing its musical versatility and technical potential of the instrumentalist.
The body of the APC CMX ukulele has a very natural and organic aesthetics, with the wood veins serving as the main decorative element, gaining more emphasis due to the absence of a mouth on the front.
The ukulele is a direct descendant of the Portuguese cavaquinho, which was taken by Portuguese sailors to the American Pacific islands to cheer the crew on their long voyages.
It became a very popular instrument in the early decades of the 20th century, when Hawaiian-inspired music filled the early days of radio in the United States. Nowadays, it is one of the most popular instruments because it is easy to learn and very fun to play, in addition to being very portable.
APC was founded in 1976 by António Pinto Carvalho, who descended from a century-old school of luthiers in Porto. The company has about 45 artisans who build different types of traditional Portuguese and other origins.
