The French horn is a musical instrument aerophone of the metal family (it is a mouthpiece instrument).
It consists of a cone-shaped 3.7 meter long metal tube, which has a nozzle at one end and a bell at the other end. The tube is rolled several times on itself and has three, four or even five valves, actuated by keys. The instrumentalist presses the keys, presses the keys with the left hand and places the right hand inside the bell, thus controlling the pitch and the timbre. The right hand also helps support the weight of the instrument.
It is an essential instrument in today's symphony orchestras.
