The APC UKSLK soprano ukulele, built in laminated koa, is an excellent choice for fans of this traditional Hawaii instrument. It is entirely manufactured in Portugal.
The ukulele is an instrument that has gained a lot of popularity in recent years, as it is easy to learn, play and carry. The soprano ukulele has four strings, tuned to Lá4 - Mi4 - Ré4 - Sol3, with the Sun being the top and the sharpest string.
This model, manufactured by the Portuguese brand APC, is made in koa, a kind of acacia native to Hawaii, which immediately gives it a touch and an aspect very close to the original instruments. The wood is laminated for greater structural strength.
The ukulele is a descendant of the Portuguese cavaquinho and was taken by Portuguese sailors to the American Pacific islands as they were the only musical entertainment they had on their boats.
It became a very popular instrument in the first decades of the 20th century, kept American soldiers in the trenches of World War II, and saw a resurgence in its popularity in the last 10 years, thanks to its adoption by many indie bands and some international music stars. Among its supporters are Eddie Vedder and George Harrison.
The APC UKSLK soprano ukulele is manufactured in Portugal by APC, a company founded in 1976 by António Pinto Carvalho, who descended from a century-old school of luthiers in Porto. The company has about 45 artisans who build several types of traditional Portuguese and other origins. APC is the largest national company in this field, producing and selling instruments to more than twenty countries.
The APC UKSLK soprano ukulele is a quality instrument, very fun to play and very versatile in the type of repertoire you can interpret, from pop songs to jazz standards. And the quality / price / fun ratio is hard to beat.
